The Brief & Obstacles
The Problem:
Cat’s front garden suffered from two major issues: a severe, unusable slope running directly down toward the house, and a complete lack of boundaries. Without a defined perimeter, the sloping lawn had become a muddy shortcut for foot traffic, leaving ruined grass and trailed footpaths. Any slope running toward a property also presents a serious drainage and damp risk if left unmanaged.

The Solution:
Rather than just paving over the problem, we engineered a two-tiered terraced design to safely manage the gradient and reclaim the property line. We installed a classic perimeter picket fence to permanently stop neighborhood foot traffic. To handle the slope, we built a robust structural retaining wall using heavy-duty timber sleepers, cleanly splitting the garden into two level tiers. The main entertaining space was finished in traditional, riven-texture Autumn Brown Indian Sandstone, complemented by raised sleeper planting beds and custom curved shingle areas.

"Redesigned the whole garden"
"Chris showed us 3D concepts so we could see how it would look before work started. The new layout makes the garden feel much bigger and it's easier to maintain. We now spend much more time outside."

"It's like having an extra room"
"Chris helped us plan the design and mocked up visuals to help us picture it. It's completely transformed our garden - it feels like we've added an extra room to the house."
