This front garden in Welwyn was a steep, muddy slope. We turned it into two level tiers, with a patio, planting and a new fence, designed together and built as one job.

Can you work with a sloping garden?
Yes. Retaining walls and steps turn a slope into level space you can use, like the front garden in Welwyn we split into two tiers.
Can you work with no side access?
Usually, yes. We look at the access on the first visit and plan the job around it. On Sue’s garden in Leighton Buzzard there was no side access and a 750 mm back gate, so we took the gate off to get a small digger through and brought every load round to the back.
Do you do the lawns and planting too?
Yes. Turf, beds and planting are designed alongside the paving and walls, and laid on ground we’ve dug and drained properly first.
Do you do fencing?
Yes. Fences, screens and gates are designed with the rest of the garden, so the boundary suits the space rather than being added at the end.
Can you add lighting or irrigation?
Yes. They’re planned in with the design, so cables and pipes go in before the paving and planting rather than being dug in afterwards.
Can we do the garden in stages?
Sometimes that makes sense, and it’s worth talking through at the consultation. Designing the whole garden first means each stage fits the next.
Do I need a design first?
Every job starts with a free design consultation. For more complex gardens we may suggest a paid design package with detailed drawings, and its cost is credited in full if you go ahead. How the consultation works.
How long does a garden renovation take?
It depends on the scope, the ground and the access, so we don’t guess. Before we start, you get a confirmed window for the work, agreed with you.
Is the price fixed?
Yes. The price on your proposal is the price you pay. It only changes if you change the design, or if we uncover something nobody could have seen beforehand, like a buried structure. Either way, nothing changes until you’ve agreed it in writing.
