// PROJECT DETAILS
// THE BRIEF
A failing terrace and unsafe, narrow steps.
This project was an immediate safety hazard. Doreen had a raised terrace sitting nearly a full metre above the garden, with no retaining wall or safety barrier. On top of that, the old slabs rocked underfoot, and the existing steps were a very narrow 30cm wide. It made getting into the garden a daily risk.

// THE GARDEN VS. THE CONCEPT
Same angle. Same crop.
// THE SOULTUON
What we changed.
We carried out a full structural and safety overhaul over three weeks. We excavated the failing terrace and built a new, load-bearing masonry retaining wall in solid brickwork to secure the 1-metre drop for good. We then laid an Indian sandstone patio on a compacted sub-base to take out any movement. Finally, we removed the narrow 30cm steps and built safely proportioned, wide brick steps down to the lawn, giving Doreen safe access and peace of mind.

// WHAT CLIENTS SAY
MT Developments are amazing. They redesigned our whole back garden and it's made a huge difference. Chris listened to what we wanted and showed us 3D drawings so we could see how it would look before the work started. The new layout makes the garden feel much bigger and easier to maintain. The team worked hard, kept the place tidy and were always very polite. We now spend so much more time outside, just in time for the next heatwave. 100% recommend.
